The Shining Mountain marshal program is an important, yet rewarding position at the golf course. These men and women are volunteers and in return for their service, they receive various benefits including:
- free play
- free range balls
- complimentary soft drinks
- 10% discount for food
- employee discounts on Pro Shop merchandise
- and a logo shirt and cap
Course marshals at Shining Mountain are responsible to open and close the course daily. Two volunteers will work the morning shift and two in the afternoon, plus one assigned to grounds. After opening tasks are complete, marshals become an ambassador to our course. He or she assist our guests with player clubs, provide directions as needed, wash carts as/when returned and help to ensure everyone has the best experience possible each and every day. They maintain the cart delivery area and ensure the clubhouse entry, course, and parking areas remain in a clean and neat condition.
Marshals shall set-up for tournaments and disc golf events, prepping and clearing the course, assisting players and event organizers, and maintaining the driving range. Friday through Sunday marshals serve as Starter on a rotational basis. The Grounds marshal works 8am to 2pm on Wednesday through Sunday and is responsible for assisting the Grounds crew with the greens, tees, sand bunkers, ball washers, fairway divots, and other related tasks. He or she will also be available to assist the Course marshals and Pro Shop when not needed by Grounds. While on the course, they are responsible for helping to manage the pace of play around the golf course. They handle player problems and cart safety as quickly as possible, always remembering the most important part of the job is serving our customers.
